Actor Adrien Brody revealed that a new makeup artist on the set of the movie "The Brutalist" tried to "diligently work solvent" on his nose, mistaking it for an element of makeup. The Guardian newspaper The Guardian wrote on February 6.

"She was just working. And I said: "Are you trying to get that nose off?". And she said: "Yes." And I said: "It's not coming off!" - Brody recounted.

The makeup artist, apologizing, told Brody it would "go in her diary."

The scenes in which Brody was filmed required significant age makeup and minor overlays to portray his character, an elderly Hungarian architect who uses a wheelchair.

Brody has suffered several nose injuries on set in the past, including during a fight on the set of Spike Lee's 1999 film Sam's Bloody Summer. In the movie The Brutalist, the peculiarities of his nose are often mentioned, suggesting that it was broken as a result of mistreatment by the Nazis.

"The Brutalist" is nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and acting nominations for stars Brody, Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce.

The publication noted that actors often wear false noses to better resemble historical characters in biographical films. Last year, for example, Bradley Cooper's large nose in "The Maestro" was discussed, which some considered anti-Semitic.

Earlier, on January 27, it became known that the Russian actor Yura Borisov was nominated for an Oscar for his supporting role in the film "Anora". If he wins, he will become the first actor in the history of Russia to receive an award from American film critics.
