Air carriers are proposed to establish uniform baggage fees regardless of the stage and method of purchasing the service, taking into account the types of route (domestic/international) and flight. As Izvestia found out, this request was addressed to the head of the Ministry of Transportation Roman Starovoit by Yana Lantratova, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education.

In the document she reports on a number of problems faced by Russians when traveling by air. One of them is the high cost of baggage carriage service, as well as non-transparency of the mechanism of price formation for this service, depending on the method and stage of its purchase.

"In particular, the cost of baggage carriage at the passenger check-in point is significantly higher than when this service is issued at the stage of ticket purchase through Internet services," says the document, which is available at Izvestia.

In this regard, the deputy asks to establish uniform standards for the cost of baggage fees regardless of the stage and method of purchasing the service, taking into account the types of routes (domestic/international) and flights (regular/charter).

In September 2024, lawyer Anton Paliulin advised to keep all documents related to the flight in case of baggage loss. The specialist explained that within 21 days from the date of loss for international flights and six months for domestic flights, one should contact the lost baggage service or an airline representative and report the loss.
