Serial production of new Russian trucks by BAZ will start in 2025
Serial production of a new domestic truck BAZ on its own modular platform will start in Russia from June-July 2025. This was announced by Dmitry Grechukhin, General Director of Romanov JSC (part of the integrated structure of Almaz-Antey Concern).
Now the truck is receiving the necessary certificates. In 2025, the plant in St. Petersburg plans to produce about 200 such vehicles. In 2027, the enterprise intends to produce 2 thousand vehicles per year. According to Grechukhin, in its off-road qualities BAZ is not inferior, and even surpasses the models of Volvo, MAN, Scania, Mercedes, DAF, Iveco and Renault.
"In terms of its off-road properties, BAZ significantly surpasses them and is more similar to Tatra. We, as a domestic manufacturer, have a unique story, because even prominent European brands present 6×6, 8×8 vehicles using dependent suspension, which is inferior in terms of off-road ability," TASS quoted Grechukhin as saying on February 6.
In December last year, Mikhail Veselkov, head of the transport axles group of the Romanov chief designer's department , told Izvestia that the localization level of the vehicles had reached 97%. The trucks are equipped with domestic engines, gearboxes and axles, he specified. It is planned to produce a whole line of all-wheel drive trucks, including chassis, tractors and dump trucks.
Thus, presented in Moscow, the BAZ-35F11 truck tractor received a diesel engine YaMZ-653.1 with an output of 367 hp (1800 Nm), which works with a manual nine-speed transmission YaMZ-1909 with a demultiplier. The suspension is independent, there are inter-axle and inter-wheel locks. GVW is 36 tons, payload - 22 tons.
Earlier in the day it was reported that Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant is studying the possibility of entering the Ethiopian market, but the final plans and possible timing of UAZ models in this country have not yet been determined.
