Three residents of Yaroslavl were detained for calling for extremism

Three residents of Yaroslavl, who published calls for extremist activities on the Internet, have been detained and sent on recognizance. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia on February 6.

"The criminal activity of three residents of the city of Yaroslavl born in 1983, 1986 and 1987, involved in the implementation of public calls for extremist activity," - stated in the message of the agency.

Yaroslavl residents published materials on their pages in social networks, which contained calls to commit crimes against law enforcers and representatives of the authorities on the grounds of political hatred.

The Investigative Department of the regional department of the FSB opened criminal cases against the detainees under Part 2 of Article 280 "Public calls for extremist activity using the Internet", all three of them were given a measure of restraint in the form of signing not to leave.

Investigative actions, necessary to consolidate evidence in the criminal case, are ongoing.

Earlier, on January 28, a 37-year-old resident of Feodosia was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for calls to kill Russians. The Crimean was an active participant of Ukrainian chat rooms, where Russophobic posts were published, and the man wrote his calls in the discussions of these messages. In August 2024, the man was detained and charged under Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls to carry out extremist activities committed with the use of the Internet").
