Apple will pay out up to $350 to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners
Apple began paying compensation totaling $35 million to owners of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in a class action lawsuit. This was reported by 9to5Mac on February 5.
The money will be paid to users whose devices faced the so-called "loop disease" (Loop Disease). The size of the payment is up to $350 (about 34.3 thousand rubles).
The problem was the poor quality of the microphones in the models in question, which caused deterioration of sound, in particular, during FaceTime calls. The complaint was filed several years ago. The maximum compensation will be received by those users who did not have time to repair their smartphones themselves. Most iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners will receive $200 each.
At the same time, the company did not admit fault. The deadline for applications expired last summer, so only those who had time to apply will receive compensation, specified "Gazeta.Ru".
In November 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned of mass hacking of iPhones by fraudsters under the guise of installing applications removed from the AppStore. The agency specified that the scheme of deception consists in the victim's entry of iCloud data of the attacker allegedly for further installation of inaccessible applications from the AppStore. The service is not supported, and fraudsters demand a huge amount of money for unlocking the phone.
