The Holy Month of Ramadan in 2025: when it begins and ends, namaz schedule

Ramadan is a holy month for all Muslims, during which a strict fast is observed. It is one of the five pillars of Islam, obligatory for all adult and capable believers. "Izvestia" tells when Ramadan begins and ends in 2025, and also shares the schedule of namazes in Moscow.
When Ramadan begins and ends in 2025
Ramadan is called the ninth month of the lunar Muslim calendar. It is 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar, so fasting every year falls on different dates.
In addition, in different parts of the world, the exact time of the beginning and end of Ramadan may differ. The fact is that according to the lunar calendar, the first appearance of the sickle moon in the sky after the new moon is considered the starting point of the holy month. In some countries astronomical calculations are used to determine the beginning of the fasting, in others - direct observation of the Earth's satellite. In some regions believers are guided by the recommendations of authoritative theologians. Hence, there are minor discrepancies in time and dates.
In Russia in 2025 Ramadan will begin in the evening of February 28, after sunset, and will end in the evening of March 29. On the next day, March 30, believers will celebrate Uraza Bayram (Eid al-Fitr), the feast of the Day of Unleavening, which marks the end of fasting.
Schedule of namaz in Moscow during the holy month of Ramadan
During Ramadan Muslims observe a strict fast - during the daylight hours there is a complete ban on eating and even drinking liquids. Eating and drinking during the holy month is allowed only before dawn and after sunset. Believers devote the daytime to work, reading the Quran, doing good deeds and praying.
As in other months, in Ramadan Muslims perform five obligatory prayers - namaz. Their time depends on the length of daylight hours.
The morning namaz (fajr) begins before sunrise, the noon namaz (zuhr) is performed shortly before the sun reaches its zenith, the pre-evening namaz (asr) is performed an hour or two hours before sunset, depending on the course of Islam, the evening namaz (maghrib) is performed after sunset, and the night namaz (isha) is performed after the evening prayer. In Ramadan, after the night namaz one can perform an additional one - tarawih, but it is not obligatory.
The schedule of namaz depends on the time zone of a particular region. It can be found on the websites of major mosques or on special aggregator portals. For example, the prayer schedule for Moscow is published on the website of the Historical Mosque (updated every month).
In the Russian capital the first fajj of Ramadan will take place on March 1 at 05:16, zuhr - at 12:44, asr - at 15:25 or 16:08, maghrib - at 18:06, and isha - at 20:02. Every day, morning namaz will start three minutes earlier and night namaz will start three minutes later. Along with them, the time of other prayers will also be shifted.
The last fajj of the holy month will take place on March 29 at 03:54, zuhr - at 12:36, asr - at 16:03 or 16:55, maghrib - at 19:04, and isha - at 21:08.
