Media reported the theft of 19.5 million rubles from a retired lieutenant general of the Russian Armed Forces

Fraudsters stole about Br19.5 million from retired Lieutenant-General of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces German Gridnev. This was reported in law enforcement agencies on February 6.

It is specified that the first call the attackers made under the guise of employees of a telecom operator, claiming the need for data for re-registration of his phone. The second time they introduced themselves as employees of special services and convinced the man that his funds were stolen in favor of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU).

"To get an alibi Gridnev was offered to hand over the amount of money left with him to a special person. As a result, the 85-year-old man collected about 19.5 million rubles and handed them over to a courier," he told TASS.

After the incident, Gridnev turned to the police. Currently, a criminal case under the article on fraud has been initiated on this fact.

The damage at the end of the year, tentatively, will amount to about 2.5 billion rubles

Earlier, on February 1, an 81-year-old pensioner became a victim of swindlers in St. Petersburg. Fraudsters contacted the elderly man by phone and introduced themselves as employees of the Federal Security Service and the Central Bank. They forced the victim to hand over more than 3 million rubles to the courier. A criminal case has been opened under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed by an organized group or on a particularly large scale").
