There were 187 road accidents in Russia over the past day

Over the past 24 hours, 187 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 19 people were killed and 227 injured. 13 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Thursday, February 6, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 65 accidents involving pedestrians, six people were killed, another 61 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 13 child pedestrians, seven of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of pedestrian accidents, 25 occurred at crosswalks and 40 outside the crosswalks.

On Wednesday, five accidents involving buses were recorded, with no fatalities, but five road users required medical attention. The cause of three accidents with buses were violations of traffic rules committed by their drivers. In two cases other road users caused the accident. With the participation of minors 24 accidents were registered, 27 young road users were injured, including 13 passengers. No children were killed.

In addition, in a number of regions of the country, temporary restrictions and closures of traffic for all or certain categories of vehicles continue due to unfavorable weather conditions. For example, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, since yesterday evening, due to bad weather on the neighboring side, the movement of trucks on the federal highway A-161 "Vladikavkaz - Nizhny Lars - border with the Republic of Georgia" in the direction of leaving the Russian Federation has been temporarily stopped.

In the Chukotka Autonomous District due to unfavorable weather conditions - snowstorms and strong winds - traffic on three regional highways was temporarily stopped. For several hours at night in the region also stopped traffic on the section of the federal highway A-384 "Anadyr - Ugolny Airport" from 5 km to 14 km. At present, this restriction has been lifted.

In the Murmansk region due to snowfall and snowstorm traffic on three regional highways was temporarily stopped. Bus traffic is restricted on the federal highway R-21 "Kola" from 1470 to 1510 km, and for buses and trucks - from 1181 to 1275 km of the same highway. In the Sakhalin region due to worsening weather conditions in the form of snow and snowstorms, traffic is temporarily stopped on the section of the federal highway A-393 "Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Okha" from 13 to 207 km.

In Khabarovsk region for the same reasons the bus traffic is restricted from 420 to 533 km of federal highway A-376 "Khabarovsk - Vanino - Komsomolsk-on-Amur". Due to snowfall, snowstorms and gusty winds, a temporary traffic restriction for buses was introduced in the Jewish Autonomous Region - on more than 350-kilometer section of the federal highway R-297 "Amur" from 1752 to 2103 km.

The State Automobile Inspectorate recommended motorists when planning long-distance trips in these and neighboring regions to follow the weather forecast and media information from the places of traffic closure or restriction. In case of a negative forecast, strong winds and snowfall, it is worth refraining from using personal vehicles for a while, and in urban conditions - to use the services of public transport.

In addition, before leaving always check the technical condition of your vehicle, the operation of lights, "wipers", braking system, the availability of tires in season and the filling of the fuel tank", - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.

The State Automobile Inspectorate urged drivers in conditions of snowfall, blizzard, strong wind, ice and limited visibility to reduce speed and increase the distance to the vehicle ahead, as well as to refuse frequent rearrangements, avoid sharp maneuvers and overtaking, strictly comply with the requirements of traffic regulations related to the beginning of movement, rearrangement, turning, turning and stopping.

January 28, head of the Russian Interior Ministry traffic police Lieutenant General Mikhail Chernikov said that the number of people killed in traffic accidents last year had decreased by 0.9%. The head of the Russian State Automobile Inspectorate noted that, according to preliminary data, the number of car accidents decreased by 0.7%, while the number of people injured in them - by 1.5%.
