The first batch of dismantled metal has been removed from the Volgoneft-239 tanker that sank in December, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Transport reported in its official Telegram channel on December 6.

It is reported that as part of the ongoing work, specialists have started processing more than 50 tons of metal, 10 tons of which have already been removed by truck.

As the agency writes, the dismantling process is taking place in two stages. At the moment, specialists are dismantling the living superstructure of the vessel, after which they will proceed to the most difficult - the cutting of the underwater part of the hull, which is scheduled for next week.

"Preliminary from the tanker completely removed the ship's stocks: more than a ton of engine oil, 18 tons of technical water and about 38 tons of diesel fuel", - writes the agency.

It is also reported that in order to ensure environmental safety in the area of dismantling works Morspassluzhba employees are on duty.

On the coast of Anapa specialists continue to work on the removal of residues of oil products. Earlier, the operational headquarters of the Kuban reported new emissions of fuel oil in the Mostovsky district, writes "Gazeta.ru".

January 31, specialists began work on the disposal of the tanker "Volgoneft-239". It was noted that the work on pumping fuel oil from the aft part of the tanker was completed on January 25, which allowed to proceed to the disposal stage. It is planned to be completed by the end of March 2025.

The tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
