A new, second criminal case has been opened against singer and former State Duma deputy Maria Maksakova-Igenbergs, who left for Ukraine (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation). This was reported by "RIA Novosti" on February 6.

According to the agency's interlocutor in law enforcement agencies, the reason for the case was the absence of her videos published on the video hosting YouTube, marking the status of a foreign agent.

Earlier, a criminal case was already opened against Maksakova under Article 280.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, part 2, paragraph "c" (public calls for the implementation of activities against the security of the state, using mass media or electronic or information and telecommunication networks, including the Internet). She was arrested in absentia.

The artist left Russia in May 2022. A year later, in May 2023, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation recognized her as a foreign agent. According to the ministry, the artist "called for the provision of arms to Ukraine, the overthrow of the current state power of the Russian Federation and acted as a respondent on information platforms provided by foreign structures".
