- Irkutsk police detained a fortune-teller who stole 1 million rubles from a pensioner
In Irkutsk, police officers detained a fraudster who stole 1 million rubles from an 80-year-old pensioner under the guise of removing spoilage. This is reported on February 6 by the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region.
"As established by the police, a stranger with a child approached the elderly man when he came out of a grocery store in the Oktyabrsky district of the regional center. The woman offered the pensioner to rid him of a serious illness," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the department.
The fortune-teller entered into confidence in the man and got into his apartment, where she promised to cure the pensioner of cancer through purification of money. She placed all his savings in a handkerchief, from which she discreetly took some of the money, and told him not to unwrap the cloth for two weeks. The man decided to check his funds and discovered the disappearance.
It is reported that the expert-criminalist seized traces of the fingers of the hands of the fraudster, thanks to which her identity was established.
Law enforcers detained a woman with stolen money at the exit from Irkutsk. It turned out that she had already served a sentence for a similar crime.
The statement indicates that the police returned to the pensioner his savings.
In addition, a criminal case was opened under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed on a particularly large scale"). At the moment, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are checking the accused for involvement in other possible crimes.
Earlier, on January 20, an interlocutor of "Izvestia" reported that a "sorceress" from Bittsevo Park stole €11 thousand and jewelry from a 75-year-old Muscovite during a ceremony to remove spoilage.
