Google has scrapped its targeted minority hiring program

The American corporation Google will no longer set targets for hiring minority employees (DEI). The Wall Street Journal(WSJ) reported on February 5.

"Google is abandoning its goal of hiring more employees from historically underrepresented groups and revamping some diversity, equity and inclusion programs, joining other tech giants rethinking their approach to DEI," the newspaper reported.

It is clarified that such orders were received by the company's employees in an email.

Since January 11, the US corporation Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) has stopped implementing its diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) programs. Instead, it plans to develop programs that focus on ways to implement fair practices that mitigate bias for all, regardless of background.

Earlier, on January 7, McDonald's, the largest fast food restaurant chain, decided to scrap its inclusive policies and is eliminating the targeted "diversity metrics" that used to be in place for employees.

Before that, on December 24 last year, American entrepreneur and billionaire Ilon Musk called for an end to donations to the online encyclopedia Wikipedia because of its editorial policy based on inclusiveness. The online resource reported spending more than $50 million of its total budget between 2023 and 2024 to support diversity and equality policies. Musk demanded no more donations to Wikipedia until it returns the balance of power to edit.
