Russian embassy says Russian gas supplies to Bulgaria to continue

Russian gas continues to be supplied to Bulgaria through intermediaries. Russian Ambassador to the country Eleonora Mitrofanova told Izvestia.

"An average of €15.2 billion per month is now spent on gas purchases from Europeans, although in 2021 monthly spending was €6 billion. This applies to Bulgarians as well. The financial situation in Bulgargaz is very unfavorable: only in the first quarter of 2024 the company's losses amounted to about €50 million. At the same time, Russian raw materials continue to enter the country through intermediaries," the diplomat said.

According to Eurostat calculations, the EU as a whole has overpaid almost €200 billion for blue fuel since the sanctions against Russia were imposed, Mitrofanova emphasized.
