Prices for eggs and butter may decrease by 5%
Prices for chicken eggs and butter may soon fall by 5% after the inclusion of these products in the list of socially important goods, for which producers will not pay remuneration to retailers. This was told to "Izvestia" by business representatives and experts.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the relevant decree on February 1. The size of bonuses to retailers was up to 5%.
"Naturally, it will affect the reduction of prices, for the sake of this and the government decree was adopted. We raised the issue of canceling the bonuses a long time ago," Galina Bobyleva, general director of the Russian Poultry Union (Rosptitsesoyuz), explained to Izvestia.
According to her, another matter is how the trade will behave: whether it will increase its markup on these goods after that, having lost bonuses of producers.
The inclusion of butter and eggs in the list of socially important goods and the ban on charging bonuses on their supply to the networks are aimed at increasing the transparency of the commodity chain, said "Izvestia" deputy chairman of the Rusprodsoyuz association Dmitry Leonov.
