The Government of Niger has called on the ICRC to leave the country
The government of Niger has appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with a demand to leave the country immediately. This was reported on February 5 by Barron's newspaper with reference to Agence France Presse (AFP).
According to the agency's interlocutor, Niger has "terminated its agreements" with the ICRC and some foreign staff have started to leave the West African country.
According to the speaker, the government ordered the closure of the humanitarian group's offices and the immediate expulsion of foreign staff.
In September last year, it became known, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Niger announced the completion of the withdrawal of U.S . troops and assets from the country.
