The Russian government imposed restrictions on the export of lead and lead scrap

The Russian government has established licensing for the export of unprocessed lead, lead scrap and waste outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This is reported in a document on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"To establish from the date of entry into force of this decree to June 20, 2025 inclusive unilaterally permissive procedure for export from the Russian Federation outside the customs territory of the EAEU waste and scrap of lead, as well as lead unprocessed ... through licensing," - stated in the decree.

The exception is semi-products of non-ferrous metals production, which contain precious metals. It is noted that the decree comes into force one day after the day of its official publication.

The document states that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will issue one-time licenses to participants in foreign trade activities for the export of unprocessed lead, lead scrap and waste upon submission of the necessary documents.

In addition, the Ministry of Economic Development will notify the Eurasian Economic Commission on the introduction of licensing and introduce for its consideration a proposal for licensing for the export of unprocessed lead, lead scrap and waste from the customs territory of the EAEU.

Earlier, on January 23, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation reported on plans to start lithium mining in Russia. It noted that the mining and processing plant is planned to be put into operation no later than 2030.

Before that, on December 5 last year, it was reported that in January - October 2024, the federal budget received 10.4 trillion rubles from the mineral extraction tax (MET).
