SHAMAN told about his attitude to the image of Prince Vladimir
Author and performer SHAMAN (real name - Yaroslav Dronov) met with the People's Artist of Russia composer Igor Matvienko in the summer of 2022 and in August he received an offer for the main role in the ethno-opera "Prince Vladimir". About this on February 5 "Izvestia" told the performer himself.
"We met him in the middle of the summer of 2022 at one closed event. I sang there two songs: "Let's get up" and "Fly away" <...> There we also met him, exchanged contacts, somewhere at the end of the summer he called, said: "There is a project that I've been doing for a long time, around which there are a lot of interesting things, let's meet with you, we'll discuss". And so we met, and here I am," SHAMAN reported.
According to him, Matvienko immediately saw Prince Vladimir in him.
Also SHAMAN admitted that he liked the image of the hero better before he converted to Christianity.
"I believe that Prince Vladimir before the adoption of Christianity, when he was still a pagan - it is the coolest rock and roller, a rock star simply. And of course it's more interesting, exciting, more driving for me to play the image of Vladimir before the adoption of Christianity, when it is possible to "release all your demons" on stage," he explained.
The premiere of the ethno-opera "Prince Vladimir" took place on February 5 at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow. The plot of the production is based on the path of Prince Vladimir, described in the "Tale of Bygone Years", and includes elements of fantasy with characters from Scandinavian mythology. Igor Matvienko said that he had been working on the ethno-opera for 13 years, collecting melodies with thousands of years of history. The production uses various languages - from Scandinavian to Greek, and also features a Russian hit in Icelandic.
The ethno-opera "Prince Vladimir" will also be presented on February 26 at the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg.
