In eight districts of the Novgorod region more than 3.5 thousand people were left without electricity due to unfavorable weather conditions. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia on February 5.

Currently, the agency's employees are working to eliminate the consequences of snowfall and temperature fluctuations in the region. They are assisting power engineers in accessing hard-to-reach areas and clearing the routes of power lines.

"More than 40 people on 12 units of equipment are involved," - stated in the message of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

In addition, in some districts of the Novgorod region there are operational groups of fire and rescue garrisons. They help to deliver water and generators, as well as charge cell phones of local residents.

Earlier, on February 4, Evgeny Lyapunov, Chief Engineer of PJSC ROSSETI, said that ROSSETI Group is restoring power supply to consumers in the Novgorod and Rostov regions, which was disrupted by snowfall and other dangerous weather phenomena. Overcalculated loads on the infrastructure resulted in wire breaks and damage to overhead line supports.
