Palestine opposes US President Donald Trump's proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Arab countries. This was announced by Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal on February 5 on the margins of the Valdai international discussion club.

"Not only Palestine [is against Trump's proposal], but all Arab, Muslim countries are against it," he told TASS.

Earlier, on February 4, during a speech in the Oval Office, Trump said it would be better to resettle refugees from the Gaza Strip to more livable places. The American leader told reporters that the hypothetical resettlement of Palestinians could take place in Egypt or Jordan, two countries that have repeatedly rejected the idea of accepting large numbers of Palestinian refugees, or in "other places" that "could be very beautiful, safe and pleasant."

Later, on February 5, at a briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that he had familiarized himself with Trump's idea of resettling the Palestinian people in Egypt and Jordan, as well as with the statements of the Middle Eastern states named by the U.S. president where the idea was not accepted. In addition, Peskov said that Russia is in favor of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through the creation of two states, and this position is unchanged.

On the same day, The Wall Street Journal learned about Trump's conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the American president called the Gaza Strip "prime real estate."

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian movement Hamas launched a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip into Israel. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
