A magistrate's court of the Tagansky district of Moscow has fined the Discord video call server 2 million rubles for refusing to localize personal data of Russians. This was reported by Izvestiya correspondent from the courtroom on February 5.

The administrative fine was imposed under Part 8 of Article 13.11 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of Russian legislation in the field of personal data"). It is specified that neither Roskomnadzor, nor representatives of Discord did not appear at the meeting.

In mid-October 2024, Discord was blocked in Russia for multiple violations of laws. Later, the press service of Roskomnadzor told Izvestia that there were no reasons to unblock the service.

Before that, on September 30, the service was fined 3.5 million rubles for failure to remove banned information.

On March 23, Roskomnadzor notified the owners of the Discord service about its inclusion in the Russian register of social networks. The owners of this site, according to the requirements of the law "On Self-Control of Social Networks" of February 2021, must independently identify and block content banned in the Russian Federation.
