A discrepancy between the price of goods on the price tag and the receipt is one of the most common situations that any buyer has encountered at least once in his or her life. According to the law "On Protection of Consumer Rights" the seller must timely provide reliable information about the goods and their cost, so that the buyer had the opportunity to make the right choice (Art. 10). Another provision is contained in the Civil Code. It states that goods placed on the shelf of a store with a price tag are recognized as a public offer, and the seller is obliged to sell the goods at the price specified in this offer. If goods are sold by weight, the price is indicated per unit of weight or volume.

Thus, the buyer is entitled to take the goods at the price he saw on the price tag. If a check has already been punched, he is obliged to return the difference. In this case, neither a sharp change in the exchange rate, nor announcements in the store with a request to clarify the cost of goods at the cash register, do not give the right to demand a larger amount in the settlement. Refusal to satisfy the consumer's demand is a gross violation on the part of the seller.

Where to complain about price tags

If the prices on the price tag and in the receipt do not coincide, you should immediately fix the discrepancy. This should also be done if the error is discovered after visiting the store. You should inform the administrator about the problem and ask to sell the goods at the price indicated on the price tag.

When paying for the goods in cash, the difference is returned in the same way. In case of non-cash payment, the funds will be returned to the card. The buyer also has the right to refuse the goods and demand a full refund. The seller, however, can not force not to buy the goods if the buyer is not satisfied with the price.

In addition, the consumer can make a written complaint to the seller. If the dispute cannot be resolved, it is necessary to apply to Rospotrebnadzor or the court to bring the organization to administrative responsibility.
