The GD called Zelensky's words about lost territories a late epiphany

The words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024) about the impossibility to return the lost territories are a late epiphany. This was stated on February 5 by Mikhail Sheremet, a Duma deputy from the Crimean region and a member of the Security Committee.

"A late epiphany has come to Zelensky. He has already thrown millions of his citizens into the furnace (of the conflict - Ed.), millions have fled the country, which today has turned into a ruin," he said in a conversation with "RIA Novosti".

Sheremet also emphasized that the Ukrainian leader has betrayed national interests for the sake of the approval of Western allies. According to him, Zelensky has lost the right to represent Ukraine, and his power is based only on the force of arms.

Earlier, on February 4, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would not be able to regain control of the lost territories during the confrontation with Russia . At the same time, he emphasized that the military assistance provided by the West to the country is clearly insufficient.

Before that, on December 18, 2024, the Ukrainian leader said that Ukraine did not have the forces to "regain" control of Donbas and Crimea. On November 20, Zelensky said that the Ukrainian side was ready to "return Crimea diplomatically" and admitted that the state lacked the ability to do so by force. He also admitted that he would not be able to reach Ukraine's 1991 borders due to a lack of resources.

On November 8, Verkhovna Rada deputy Anna Skorokhod admitted the impossibility for the country to return militarily to the 1991 borders after a conversation with Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) fighters on the line of contact in the special operation zone.
