The United States Postal Service (USPS) said it is temporarily suspending the acceptance of international parcels from China and Hong Kong "until further notice". Axios reported on February 4.

"It is not yet clear whether these actions were caused by retaliatory duties that the Chinese government imposed in response to the 10 percent duties on Chinese products imposed by [US President Donald] Trump's administration," the post reported.

At the same time, experts emphasized that the decision would not affect forwarded letters.

On February 4, new duties on imports from the PRC came into force in the United States. The size of the tax is 10%. In general, lower tariffs than planned were imposed on China. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the tax will amount to 60%.

Analysts believe that this shows that the US and Chinese economies are much more dependent on each other than is publicly stated, and the increase in tariffs is a blow to the US first of all on themselves. Earlier, Trump said that America would "definitely" impose tariffs on the European Union (EU).
