- Medvedchuk said about the possible collapse of Ukraine and redistribution of its territories by its neighbors

Ukraine's closest neighbors, such as Romania and Bulgaria, see it as a failed state whose territories they want to divide among themselves. This was stated by Viktor Medvedchuk, chairman of the board of the Other Ukraine organization, in an article for KP.RU on February 5.
"The neighbors are confident in the disintegration of the fictitious state," he said, speculating about the country's future.
According to him, under President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term expired on May 20, 2024), Ukraine was destroying its history, replacing it with fantasies that "had no ground." Medvedchuk also warned that in such a case, neighboring countries might start "reminding of real historical facts."
As an example, he cited a statement by the leader of the Bulgarian Renaissance party Kostadin Kostadinov, who recalled that Southern Bessarabia and the south of the Odessa region had been part of Bulgaria for more than 450 years.
"Before Zelensky, [former President Viktor] Yushchenko and then, after the 2014 coup d'état, Poroshenko were in charge of splitting the country, and after all, they did not realize that they were destroying any possibility of a unified state on this territory. Ukraine is historically formed of many parts that were previously part of other states," the politician said.
At the same time, earlier Viktor Medvedchuk also made a statement that Russia is saving the Ukrainian people by collecting its historical lands.
"History has the property to repeat itself at new stages. Therefore, the revival of the Ukrainian people is traditionally connected with Russia and within Russia, it was so, it is so and it will be so in the future", - he said.
On January 27, Viktor Medvedchuk said that only Russia can bring peace to Ukraine. In his opinion, the removal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from power in the country is not enough to eliminate the conflict, only Russia can bring peace.
Before that, on January 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reminded that in order to settle the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, it is necessary to eliminate its root causes and achieve reliable guarantees.
The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place on March 29, 2022 in Istanbul. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow. On October 4, 2022, the Ukrainian president put into effect the decision of the country's National Security and Defense Council on the impossibility of holding talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
