The scale of repeated emissions is comparable to the pollution that rescuers encountered at the initial stage of the disaster, Vladimir Kalyaev, head of the Skoltech development project group, who is actively involved in eliminating the consequences of the accident, told Izvestia.

Ecologist Vladislav Zhukov is sure that fuel oil emissions will occur for several months.

"The main blow in the form of spilled oil product the coast has already taken on itself. If we talk about eliminating the emission of the smallest drops of fuel oil, it will take a very long time, several years for sure," said the ecologist.

According to Roman Pukalov, director of environmental programs of the all-Russian public organization "Green Patrol", the situation may worsen when the tanker "Volgoneft-212", which was wrecked, is lifted.

"There is a huge amount of oil product left in the tanker, if there are leaks from there, the situation will escalate. Fuel oil is spinning counterclockwise in the Black Sea, that is, from Anapa to Crimea. From the Crimea, it is possible that traces of fuel oil on the beach in Bulgaria, further on to Turkey. There is a probability of these events," - said the ecologist.
