More than 300 ventilation shafts of collectors will be renewed in Moscow by the end of 2025. This was reported on Tuesday, February 4, by Deputy Mayor of the capital on housing and public utilities and landscaping Pyotr Biryukov.
According to him, specialists of the municipal economy complex will use materials and equipment of Russian manufacturers when carrying out works. The workers will first dismantle the old structures on the shafts' heads, clean the concrete and restore waterproofing, and replace fans if necessary, RT reports. Ventilation shafts are the above-ground parts of communication collectors that provide them with an air supply. It is necessary for the smooth operation of underground engineering structures.
The official reminded that the modernization of ventilation shafts in Moscow has been carried out since 2011. It was then that the large-scale programs of improvement of streets and public spaces started, reports the agency of city news "Moscow".
In January, Biryukov said that in 2024, specialists repaired and modernized eight communication collectors in Moscow. The Zaryadye, Leninsky-131, Presnensky and Yartsevsky collectors were updated, as well as some facilities in the Eastern, North-Eastern and Zelenograd administrative districts, Regnum IA reported.
