The director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, plans to visit the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP) in the near future. He said this on February 4 during a press approach in Kiev.

When talking to journalists, the IAEA head drew attention to the importance of the issue of military impact on the energy system for nuclear safety. According to him, the situation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant was an important topic during his visit to Kiev today.

In addition, the IAEA director confirmed that he would visit Moscow this week. At the same time, Grossi said, the trip to ZNPP will take place separately from his current visit to Kiev and his upcoming trip to Russia.

"I have been there (to ZNPP. - Editor's note) five times already and I intend to go there in the future,"RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Earlier in the day, the IAEA director arrived in Kiev to assess the situation at the Kiev power substation and provide assistance in preventing a nuclear accident. According to Grossi, the substation is crucial to the Kiev regime's nuclear power safety.

On January 23, Grossi said that the nuclear safety situation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant was not improving and that the IAEA mission was far from being completed. He specified that the agency's inspectors at the Zaporizhzhya NPP had heard frequent explosions outside the facility, which means "a continuing threat to nuclear safety."

In early December last year, Grossi said that the situation around Zaporizhzhya NPP continues to be tense and unstable as long as hostilities are taking place near the facility.

Zaporizhzhya region, where the nuclear power plant is located, became part of the Russian Federation following a referendum in September 2022. Since that time, Zaporizhzhya NPP has been under constant IAEA control.
