- Poland says it plans to build its own version of the K2 tank and sell it to EU countries

Warsaw intends to build its own version of the South Korean K2 tank and sell it to European Union (EU) countries. This was announced by Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Vladislav Kosiniak-Kamysz on February 4.
"As for K2 tanks - this is one of the priorities this year. <...> We are interested in cooperation with South Korea. We are interested in further realization of delivery agreements and signing new ones. <...> Polonization of the product (Tank K2 - ed.) is important to me. I know that other European countries will also be interested in the polonized version," he said at a press conference, the video is published on YouTube.
According to the minister, despite the political crisis in South Korea, the government of that country promised to fulfill the signed agreements and deliver the equipment on time.
Earlier, last September, South Korean Deputy Defense Minister Cesarius Tomczyk said that Poland had purchased FA-50 combat trainer aircraft from South Korea without a combat component because the purchase of the weapons was not stipulated in the contract.
Earlier in the same month, it was reported that Poland had signed performance contracts for 290 modules of K239 multi-launch missiles, Korean analogs of the U.S. HIMARS. It was specified that taking into account the already concluded contracts for Korean analogs, Poland is likely to purchase only 126 sets of U.S. systems.
