In the Transbaikal Territory, a train hit a herd of red-listed gazelles, reported the press service of the Transbaikal Railway on February 4.
It was reported that an inspection was launched on the fact of the incident.
"Currently, an additional briefing of locomotive crews on the need to be particularly vigilant in case of wild animals near the railway tracks has been organized," - said in a message published in the Telegram-channel.
In addition, the press service said that representatives of the Transbaikal Railway will study the migration routes of gazelles on poorly viewed areas adjacent to the railroad tracks, as well as develop measures to prevent such cases. The Daursky Reserve and the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Trans-Baikal Territory will be involved in the work.
The dzeren (or Mongolian dzeren, or goitered antelope) is a hoofed animal of the genus dzeren of the pronghorn family. It is included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation with the status of rarity - 1 (endangered).
Earlier, on October 18, a freight train hit a herd of rams in Babayurtovsky district of Dagestan. Some animals managed to run away. Nearby at that time there were shepherds watching the flock.
