Eggplant contains a large amount of fiber and vitamins, but this vegetable is not recommended for everyone to eat, as it is sometimes hard for the body to digest. About this nutritionist, candidate of medical sciences, director of the clinic of aesthetic medicine Margarita Koroleva told on Tuesday, February 4.

"It has a place in the diet, however, it is not shown to everyone, because it belongs to the group of nightshades. Has in its composition lectins. In the presence of inflammatory processes of the gastrointestinal tract, it can support the fire of inflammation and get up contrary to the treatment program prescribed by the doctor," - said the expert in conversation with "Radio 1".

According to Koroleva, eggplants are contraindicated for people with digestive system problems and the presence of autoimmune diseases.

International Eggplant Day is celebrated on the first Tuesday of February.

Earlier on this day, nutritionist, candidate of medical sciences Darya Rusakova advised to give up table salt and sugar to prevent edema, RT reports.
