The EP criticized Brussels' calls to shift the battle line to the east

Eurodiplomacy chief Kaja Kallas's words about the need for additional military aid to Kiev show that the euro official has nothing to do with diplomacy, Slovak MEP Milan Ugrik told Izvestia on February 4.
"She is a military commissioner and is similar to the most aggressive members of [former US President] Joe Biden's administration. I absolutely do not agree with the citizens of member states and sending even more money to continue the conflict," he said.
He pointed to discussions in the European Parliament over US President Donald Trump's decision to freeze foreign financial aid programs for 90 days.
"Some bureaucrats are spooked by the situation. But I don't think voters will appreciate such a policy, especially if their living standards will decrease precisely because of further financial aid and further sanctions," he added.
In his opinion, the policy of sanctions and financing Kiev is causing economic damage to the bloc.
"Europe suffers not only from this situation, but also from its own steps, among them the 'open door policy' on migration, the 'green policy' preventing the production of cheap energy, bans on internal combustion engines or legislative pressure on the state sovereignty of member states," the interlocutor emphasized.
Kaya Kallas said earlier that the EU has provided Kiev with a total of more than € 134 billion. The head of Eurodiplomacy also called for new sanctions against Russia's partner countries and the Russian energy sector.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
