Seven members of a criminal group for kidnapping and banditry were sentenced in Ufa for terms from 8 to 15 years. This was reported on February 4 in the press service of the investigative board of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Bashkiria.

According to the investigation, the criminal group was organized by two previously convicted brothers. They were serving a sentence for robbery, intentional infliction of moderate harm to health, as well as hooliganism. Later they attracted accomplices and engaged in banditry to commit robbery, extortion and kidnapping.

"As victims, they chose persons who, in their opinion, are involved in the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, in connection with which they will not go to law enforcement agencies," - noted in the message.

The men were found guilty under Part 1 and 2 of Art. 209 ("Creation and participation in a stable armed group"), Part 2 and 3 of Art. 126 ("Kidnapping"), Part 2 of Art. 127 ("Illegal deprivation of liberty"), Part 2 and 3 of Art. 161 ("Robbery"), Part 2 and 4 of Art. 162 ("Robbery") and paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code ("Extortion").

It is noted that the court sentenced the leaders of the group to 15 years' imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony with restriction of liberty for 1 year, and the accomplices to 8 to 11 years' imprisonment in correctional colonies of general, strict and special regimes.

In 2021 in the Republic of Bashkortostan the activity of a gang, which for six months was engaged in kidnapping, robbery and extortion, was suppressed. The bandit group was neutralized. The detained members were suspected of 12 kidnappings.
