In 2024, domestic winemakers produced about 61 million dal of wine and cognac, which is 13.4% more than in 2023, said the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

In particular, still wines were produced 32.6 million dal (8.6% increase over the previous year), sparkling wines - 17.6 million dal (+24.7%), fortified wines - 1.1 million dal (+29.6%), cognac - 9.7 million dal (+10.2%).

The main wine-producing regions in our country are traditionally Krasnodar Krai (the subject accounts for 35.8% of the total production), the Republic of Crimea (16.1%) and Dagestan (13.7%). Consumers are increasingly favoring domestic wines: every year the share of their sales increases both in retail trade and in public catering.

According to Peter Efremov, Executive Director of the Association "Federal Self-Regulatory Organization of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia", the main driver of wine production growth is the impact of protective measures taken by the Russian Government to create a more favorable regime for domestic winemakers. In addition, new areas of planted vineyards are coming into fruition, which allows us to expect further growth in the production of wines of all categories, he said.

At the same time, the expert expressed confidence that the demand for Russian wine will continue to increase further, and domestic winemakers will always have something to offer their consumers. Today the production portfolios reflect the current market trends - increased demand for light white, drinkable red and sparkling wines, stated Pyotr Efremov.

Since 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has been implementing a special federal project "Stimulating the development of viticulture and winemaking". It combines all the most popular support measures for winegrowers and winemakers. In addition, other instruments of state support within the framework of state programs of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture are available for farms. Among them - preferential lending, compensation of direct incurred costs for nurseries, grants for the development of agro-tourism and family farms, agro-insurance, preferential leasing, support for land reclamation and export, as well as other measures.

On December 17 last year, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported that from April 1, 2025 will come into force the national standard GOST R "Catering services. Recommendations on the development, design and content of wine lists". GOST for the first time describes in detail the best practices for the design of wine lists at catering enterprises, was approved by the order of Rosstandart on November 11. Representatives of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia, the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia (AVVR), as well as other specialists directly participated in its development.
