The DPR Supreme Court sentenced in absentia an AFU mercenary from Georgia

The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) has sentenced in absentia Tornike Okropilashvili, a mercenary from Georgia who participated in hostilities on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), to 13.5 years in a strict regime colony. This was reported by the prosecutor's office of the DNR on February 4.

It is specified that the convict is 29 years old, he stayed in the armed formations from March 2022 to October 2024.

"Okropilashvili arrived on the territory of Ukraine and voluntarily joined the "Georgian National Legion" (the organization is recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia. - Ed.), where he underwent military training on the territory of training bases located in Ukraine," the agency said in a statement.

The Georgian citizen was issued personal firearms, shells, uniforms and special equipment. Okropilavshvili received more than 4.8 million rubles for mercenarism.

The court found the man guilty under part 3 of article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict"). Passing a verdict in absentia, the court took into account the position of the state prosecutor.

Earlier, on January 30, the Supreme Court of the DNR passed a verdict in absentia in the case of a mercenary from Lithuania Rimas Armaitis, who took part in hostilities on the side of the AFU. The man was found guilty under part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and after his detention or extradition to Russia, he will spend 13.5 years in a strict regime colony.
