Lithium and titanium deposits in Ukraine may be of significant interest to the US industry and President Donald Trump. This was reported on February 4 by Yuliya Davydova, associate professor at the Department of Political Analysis and Social and Psychological Processes at the Plekhanov Russian Economic University.

She recalled the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (term expired May 20, 2024) and Trump in October 2024, where they discussed the joint use of Ukrainian "economic potential."

"It was primarily about deposits of rare earth metals such as lithium and titanium, which are actively used in nuclear power, radio electronics, aircraft and rocket construction," she told RIA Novosti.

According to her, the Ukrainian territory has such metals as scandium, vanadium and beryllium, which are of significant interest to the US industry.

Earlier, on February 3, Trump said that in exchange for financial and military aid, Washington expects Ukraine to guarantee supplies of rare earth metals. He emphasized that the United States would require the EU to increase funding for Kyiv's support.

Later, the Ukrainian mass media reported that most of the Ukrainian territories with rare-earth metals in which the USA is interested are not under Kiev's control.
