Vilfand predicted record high atmospheric pressure in Moscow

Atmospheric pressure in Moscow by February 8 will rise to 775-777 mm Hg due to the anticyclone from the East. This was reported on February 4 by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.
In a conversation with "RIA Novosti" forecaster said that the anticyclone, which is currently well pronounced over the Asian part of the Russian Federation, in the coming days will spread to the West. According to him, the ridge of high pressure is currently passing over the Urals and is being established in the European part of Russia. Such a phenomenon, according to Wilfand, is not common.
On February 4, the forecaster noted, the pressure is above the norm by 8-10 mm Hg, and in the following days it will increase by about 5 mm daily.
"The maximum is predicted on Saturday (February 8. - Ed.) - 775-777 mm Hg," the agency quotes Wilfand's words.
He specified that such a high pressure has not been in the history of meteorological observations since 1879.
Earlier, on February 2, leading specialist of the information agency Meteonovosti Tatyana Pozdnyakova reported that in Moscow on February 7, the atmospheric pressure may reach a record high of 775 mm Hg. According to her, the highest pressure in the capital on February 7 was observed in 2012, when barometer readings reached 773.7 mm Hg.
