"Rosseti is eliminating the consequences of snow cyclones in the Novgorod and Rostov Regions

ROSSETI Group restores power supply to consumers in the Novgorod and Rostov Regions disrupted by snowfall and other hazardous weather events. Overcalculated loads on the infrastructure resulted in wire breaks and damage to overhead line supports. This was reported by Evgeny Lyapunov, Deputy Director General and Chief Engineer of Rosseti, PJSC, during a meeting of the special headquarters of the grid complex.

In the Novgorod Region, where Cyclone Julian passed through, 122 power engineering teams - 510 employees and 142 units of special equipment - are involved in emergency recovery work. To provide socially important facilities, 27 reserve sources of electricity supply (RISE) with a capacity of almost 2.5 MW were delivered. Russian Grids' forces and equipment from seven neighboring regions were additionally involved in the measures in the region. In the Rostov region the consequences of the snowfall are being eliminated by 79 brigades, including 201 power engineers and 97 units of special equipment.

In connection with dangerous weather phenomena and associated risks of power supply disruption, special operating modes have also been introduced for power engineers in the Volgograd Region and Kuban.
