The Russian Defense Ministry claimed the defeat of a Foreign Legion formation in the SVO zone

The Russian Armed Forces (AF) have hit a formation of the Foreign Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 4.

"The units of the Southern grouping of troops took more favorable lines and positions. Defeated the formations of three mechanized, aeromobile brigades of the AFU, the formation of the Foreign Legion and two brigades of thero-defense", - stated in the message of the Department in its Telegram-channel.

This happened in the areas of such localities as Orekhovo-Vasilevka, Yantarnoye, Dachne, Zelenovka, Ivano-Daryevka, Dyleevka, Konstantinovka and the town of Chasov Yar in the DNR. The Ukrainian army lost up to 260 military personnel there, four field artillery guns, three of which were made in NATO countries, four vehicles, an armored combat vehicle (ACV), two warehouses with shells and three electronic warfare (EW) stations.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry showed the combat work of Atlant battalion attack aircraft of the 35th Guards motorized rifle unit of the Center group of forces, which during a successful offensive took control of an AFU stronghold in the Krasnoarmeysk direction. The Russian army fighters cleared out the Ukrainian militants' dugouts, entrenched themselves there, and then continued to move forward.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
