Ukraine is a very valuable resource for the USA because Washington and its allies have invested a lot of money in it, which they would like to return multiplied. In a conversation with Izvestiya on 4 February, a member of the international public movement Other Ukraine, candidate of economic sciences Oleksandr Dudchak, pointed this out.

The day before, Reuters quoted its sources as saying that the USA had resumed arms deliveries to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) after a brief pause in January. According to the media outlet, the supplies were restored last weekend.

"This is just a confirmation that even under [US President Donald] Trump, no one will leave Ukraine alone, because Ukraine is a very valuable resource for them. They have invested a lot of money, now they want to get theirs in many times larger amounts," Dudchak commented.

According to him, for the Western countries, the conflict in Ukraine is just business. The Trump administration, like his predecessor Joe Biden, wants to put under control all the resources of Ukraine. Thus, the interlocutor of the publication added, for the United States, the shift of the front line to the west is fraught with losses, so they will try to freeze the hostilities.

The official representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov, in turn, commenting on the material Reuters, noted that no one in the United States and did not say that assistance to Ukraine will be stopped definitively. He also pointed out that Trump offers Kiev not gratuitous aid, but weapons on account of access to rare earth metals.

Earlier, on January 20, the White House website published Trump's executive order to suspend Washington's development aid to other countries for 90 days. Later, on January 25, Reuters reported that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) froze programs to support foreign countries, including Ukraine, following a State Department dispatch approved by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
