- In the State Duma pointed out the harm to Poland from the claim on the real estate of the Russian Federation

Poland's claims on Russian real estate are another attempt to harm the Russian Federation, but such measures will harm Warsaw's reputation to a greater extent. This opinion was shared with Izvestia on February 4 by Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots.
Earlier in the day, Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev said that the republic's authorities refuse to recognize several real estate properties as Russian property and claim them.
"This is just a well-known such policy of those countries that want to harm us with these small mosquito bites. But they bring harm to themselves because they violate international legislation, all the international agreements they signed. Therefore, any state that wants to work with such countries can realize that Poland, the United States or any American satellite can take away their property or freeze, take away their accounts," Vodolatsky commented.
According to him, Poland, as well as the nearest "dwarf republics" at the moment - Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia - are at the head of a powerful Russophobic policy pursued by the Anglo-Saxons. Thus, the politician emphasized, everything that Warsaw is doing today is aimed at harming Russia. He also added that the Russian side will take retaliatory measures against Polish property on Russian territory.
For his part, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also emphasized that reciprocal measures are inevitable. In addition, he noted that steps for a solution in Poland are "limited due to the denounced Russophobic policy."
On May 30, 2024, the Russian Embassy in Warsaw received a note on restricting the movement of diplomats. The document of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Russian side from June 1 must notify the Polish Foreign Ministry in advance of the intention of employees of the Russian Embassy in Warsaw, as well as the Russian general consulates in Gdansk, Krakow and Poznan to leave the province.
Prior to that, in November 2023, the Czech Republic came forward with a proposal to ban the movement of Russian diplomats within the EU. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó told Izvestia at the time that the initiative was unreasonable and that Budapest was against restrictions affecting diplomatic activity.
Western countries have increased sanctions pressure on Russia in connection with the special operation to protect Donbass. The decision to launch it was announced on February 24, 2022 amid the aggravation of the situation in the region.
