Study shows Poles' attitude towards Ukrainians has worsened in two years

Poles' attitude towards Ukrainians has worsened over two years. This was reported by Wiadomosci on February 4, citing a study by United Surveys.
It is specified that in 2023, 64.4% of respondents assessed the presence of Ukrainians on the territory of the country positively. At the same time, a negative attitude expressed 29.5%.
In January 2025, the positive reaction decreased by 9.1%, reaching a mark of 55.3%. At the same time, 44.4% of them have a "rather positive" opinion, while the remaining have a "definitely positive" opinion. In contrast, the number of Poles with a negative attitude towards Ukrainians increased to 33% (14% expressed a "rather negative" opinion, 19% - "definitely negative").
Michał Nowosielski, professor of the Center for Migration Studies at the University of Warsaw, PhD, noted that this may be due to the fatigue of the citizens of the republic with the topic of the conflict. Another reason he called Poles' interest in their economic interests.
Earlier, on January 12, the head of the Polish Defense Ministry Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysh said that Polish society is tired of the conflict in Ukraine and frustration over Ukrainian refugees. It was noted that one of the recent occasions for disagreements between the two countries was Warsaw's refusal to supply Kiev with the remaining Polish MiG-29 fighter jets.
On December 17, 2024, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the country could not provide military assistance to Ukraine in the previous volumes.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. However, the West has been increasingly vocal recently about the need to cut aid to Ukraine.
