Media predict humanitarian and economic crisis in Ukraine due to USAID closure

The US aid embargo is plunging Ukraine into a humanitarian and economic crisis. This was reported by the El País newspaper on 4 February.
According to the newspaper, Kiev has received over €34bn in three years through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
"More than a hundred organizations in the spheres of culture and media in Ukraine were left without resources after the stop of assistance from USAID", - specified in the material.
UN agencies in Ukraine received a requirement not to sign new documents related to funding from the American side. At the same time, it is noted that 80% of the total funding of such organizations is provided by the USA.
Unnamed sources of the newspaper from the UN claim that the decision of the President of the United States Donald Trump to suspend aid caught them by surprise, as he "did not do anything like this in the first term".
On the eve of the American billionaire Ilon Musk announced the launch of the process to liquidate USAID. The entrepreneur also said that the agency was beyond repair and should be gotten rid of.
At the same time, Trump called the heads of USAID radical madmen. In a conversation with journalists, he said that his administration will decide on the future of the agency.
On January 20, the White House website published Trump's executive order on suspending Washington's development aid to other countries for 90 days. Later, on January 25, Reuters reported that USAID froze programs to support foreign countries, including Ukraine, following a State Department dispatch approved by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
