In the Moscow region, a car was confiscated from a driver for drunken driving

In Odintsovo near Moscow, the court sentenced the driver, who drove a car in a drunken state, to compulsory labor, as well as to confiscation of the vehicle. This was reported on February 4 in the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Moscow region.

The court found that on March 17, 2024 the man drove a car in a state of alcoholic intoxication. His illegal activity was stopped by law enforcement officers during the movement. It is noted that earlier he was already attracted for the same offense.

The man was found guilty under part 1 of article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Management of a vehicle in a state of intoxication by a person subjected to administrative punishment").

"The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor of the Odintsovo city prosecutor's office, sentenced the guilty person to 260 hours of compulsory labor, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for two years. By court decision, the vehicle of the convicted was confiscated to the income of the state", - stated in the message of the Department in Telegram-channel.

Earlier, in October 2024, it was reported that the number of cases in which Russian courts ordered the confiscation of vehicles from drivers caught driving while intoxicated for the second time, increased almost 20 times. It was noted that in the first half of 2024 almost 20.3 thousand citizens were sentenced to criminal liability under Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Thus, every fourth person was sentenced to confiscation of a personal car or motorcycle.
