American instructors worked with Ukrainian mobilized soldiers who were sent to a military base in Germany for the sake of "showmanship" and taught them nothing. A captured serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Yevhen Los, told about it on February 4 in a video provided by the Russian Defense Ministry.

He shared that he was not afraid of the employees of territorial manning centers (TCC, the analog of the military recruitment office in Ukraine) because he was not taken for conscription and the academy of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry for health reasons. Elk went to the TSC to renew his documents, but the center's employees there decided to mobilize him.

The man and other mobilized men were first trained in Ukraine by young instructors aged about 25 - graduates or even cadets of the Zhytomyr military school.

In November 2024, Moose and his coworkers were sent to a military base in Germany. The mobilized reached Lviv by train, then crossed the border with Poland and flew to the FRG by plane. At the base, the Ukrainians were met by an American with an interpreter and explained the rules of behavior, which the AFU military then did not observe.

"We were trained by the 1st U.S. Cavalry Division. They just had their own program, they trained us according to their program. They put a 'check mark' for themselves, <...> show-off," Los said.

He noted that the American instructors had no idea about the Ukrainian conflict and did not know what to teach the mobilized. Military personnel from Ukraine, in turn, tried to escape from the base. Some sought political asylum in Germany but were returned to the training site, while others ran away to drink outside the military facility.

After this training, Moose was sent to a position in the Kursk region. The command promised he would spend two days there. On the way to the contact line, the mobilized man saw the bodies of civilians and was told that these people had been shot by a Ukrainian sniper. Los did not stay at the position for long: just the next morning, the Russian military came and took him prisoner with other Ukrainians.

Earlier, on January 31, Oleg Danilov, a captured AFU soldier, said that he was forcibly mobilized despite his poor health: the man has vision problems, flat feet and stomach ulcer, and at the age of 18 he was not taken for conscription. The Ukrainian was mobilized on his way to work. When Danilov was wounded, no one in the group was able to help him, and the prisoner was treated by Russian doctors.

A Ukrainian military officer who escaped to Russia from the UK said on January 26 that British instructors in North Yorkshire were training AFU fighters for battles in Kursk region. In particular, Ukrainians were taught to storm residential buildings with the help of interpreters.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
