- The Central Bank warned about the spread of myths about the digital ruble in social networks

The Central Bank of Russia has discovered a large number of mailings with myths about the digital ruble in messengers and social networks. This was reported by a representative of the regulator on February 4.
"Recently we do see another surge of myths about the digital ruble. At the same time, the main channel for disseminating such information is sending messages in messengers and social networks," the Central Bank representative told RBC.
He also noted that such messages often contain excerpts from laws and regulations, so they can cause confidence in the recipient.
"As a rule, the authors of these messages, in order to arouse the trust of readers and provoke panic, try to support their texts allegedly with various excerpts from laws or regulations, which do not have any relation to the digital ruble or taken out of context," - said the representative of the regulator.
The Central Bank called rumors about plans to abandon cash because of digital currency and about the mandatory transfer of all citizens to digital rubles "another myth", follows from the publication.
In addition, the representative of the regulator noted that at the moment the digital ruble is not yet available, and reminded that its use will remain voluntary.
Earlier, on January 29, Konstantin Borodulin, managing director of ratings of financial institutions of the NRA rating service, told Izvestia about the prospects of the digital ruble, noting that its use will allow banks to conduct various transactions with the lowest costs, up to cross-border settlements with friendly countries.
