In the city of Chita, Trans-Baikal Territory, police seized more than 100 thousand packs of counterfeit cigarettes, the total value of which exceeded Br14 million. This was reported on February 4 by the press service of the UMVD of Russia in the Transbaikal Territory in the official Telegram-channel.
"Employees of economic security and anti-corruption of the UMVD of Russia in the city of Chita conducted a set of operational and investigative measures, as a result of which the illegal circulation of cigarettes without special markings in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation was suppressed," - follows from the message.
The identified suspect - 59-year-old local resident, who, according to the version of law enforcement officers, purchased, stored and sold tobacco products without excise stamps. The total value of cigarettes is estimated at more than 14 million rubles.
It is reported that a criminal case under Part 6 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which punishes the production, acquisition, storage, transportation or sale of goods without labeling, established by Russian law.
Earlier, on January 15, it was reported that a resident of the Sakhalin region is accused of attempting to transport fish contraband worth about 20 million rubles, as well as illegal storage of unlabeled fish products. As it became known, the defendant issued false certificates with inaccurate information about the manufacturer, date of manufacture and expiration date of the fish he purchased.
