Writer Neil Gaiman has been accused of human trafficking and sexual assault

New Zealander Scarlett Pavlovic has filed a new lawsuit in the U.S. federal court against British writer Neil Gaiman on charges of human trafficking and sexual assault. This was reported on February 3 by the website Vulture.
The lawsuit also names Amanda Palmer, Gaiman's ex-wife, who is accused of introducing Gaiman to Pavlovic and failing to warn her about the alleged sexual harassment. The charges were filed in New Zealand in 2022, but Pavlovic's attorneys filed suit in Wisconsin, where the writer has a home.
The lawsuit says Palmer "knowingly recruited Scarlett to come to Waiheke and then obtain her unpaid labor." Pavlovic claims that while working as the couple's nanny, Gaiman repeatedly raped her.
"The writer's behavior with Pavlovic was intended to coerce the girl into sexual favors and free child care, leading her to believe that if she did not perform such work, she would suffer serious harm," Vulture notes.
Scarlett is said to be entitled to damages "reasonably in excess of $100 million including, damages to physical well-being, emotional and psychological harm and loss of career opportunities."
Earlier, on July 3, 2024, two New Zealand residents accused British writer Neil Gaiman of rape. It is noted that both complainants were in a relationship with him. The New Zealand police confirmed that they are investigating the incidents.
Neil Gaiman is the author of bestsellers "Sandman", "American Gods", "Good Omens". The writer specializes in fantasy, comic books and books for children.
