Teenage girl killed in shark attack in Australia


In Australia, a girl died as a result of a shark attack in the waters of a popular tourist beach on the eastern coast of the continent. This is reported by Reuters on February 4, citing local authorities.
"Queensland State Police said emergency services were called to Bribie Island, about 80 km north of Brisbane, at about 17:00 (10:00 Moscow time) on Monday, February 3, following reports of a serious shark bite incident," the agency reports.
It is specified that the victim suffered serious injuries in the attack and later died from them.
Police have not disclosed the victim's age, although Reuters reports that it has been widely reported in local media that she was 17 years old.
On Jan. 29, a 12-year-old boy survived a shark attack in Australia. The shark attacked the teenager while he was swimming in shallow water near Shipwreck Bay near the city of Gold Coast.
Earlier, on December 29, 2024, Reuters reported that a shark attack in the Egyptian resort of Marsa Alam left one tourist dead and another injured. Russian Consul General in Hurghada Viktor Voropayev specified that the injured were tourists from Italy.
