On February 4, intelligence servicemen of the special forces unit "Lynx" told Izvestia about military preparations for a combat mission near Soledar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).

"Now we are several kilometers away from Ukrainian positions. Drone-detector fixed in the sky enemy scout. Further the group will already go without me. It is deadly dangerous for journalists there, special training is required," - told Izvestia correspondent Yegor Kildibekov.

A fighter with the call sign Kosyak shared that he was helping his comrades dig out a dugout when he noticed a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the air. At the same moment, a Polish mortar began correcting the Russian servicemen, but they withdrew to the dugout in time.

"Just in time we retreated to the dugout, and just now they worked on us. But we got a little nervous. We have more character. They mostly all run away. Now we are a few kilometers from the Ukrainian positions", - he commented.

The serviceman with the call sign Borman noted that initially reconnaissance is carried out observation, after which the distance of movement of AFU personnel is fully calculated.

"First you wound one, the group all gathers, goes to help this wounded man, and further work," - said Borman.

On this day, fighters of the "Center" group spoke about working with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with fiber-optic cable. FPV drones with fiber-optic control, capable of overcoming enemy electronic warfare (EW) troops, have become one of the unexpected technical novelties of the Russian Armed Forces.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
