Russian ambassador to Indonesia talks about nuclear cooperation

The Russian side is very optimistic about the implementation of a nuclear power project in Indonesia, Russian Ambassador to Jakarta Sergei Tolchenov told Izvestia.

"The last major step remains - the creation of a separate organization here that will supervise the nuclear-energy subject. For this to happen, a decree of the country's president must be adopted. After that, we will be able to start direct contacts and negotiations with this body on any aspects of cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy," the diplomat said.

Indonesia is considering Russian participation in the construction of a nuclear power plant, the ambassador added.
